Frequently asked questions
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
Depending on what day you are coming, if you’re a volunteer, VIP, exhibitor, or simply a spectator… Well, parking just kind of depends. Here's a helpful link from our website to help you out: http://fairhillinternational.com/fh-directions-and-parking-page/
WAIT! WHAT DO YOU MEAN, I HAVE TO RIDE A BUS?
Yes, if you’re coming as a spectator on Saturday or Sunday you DO have to ride the bus. Why? Well, the parking we have available at the Festival site gets muddy. Really, really muddy. And when it rains during the Festival, we end up having to do a whole lot of this:
So, yes. Ride the bus. We promise it’s a better solution. And YES. You can absolutely bring your dog on the bus!
I WANT TO BRING MY FAMILY. ANY TIPS?
Kids are FREE if they are under 12 years old. 12 – 18 year old kids are only $10.
Kids Corner will be open Saturday and Sunday with face painting, bead stringing, other crafts, and some fun things to do outside the tent as well (corn pool, anyone?). We have three fabulous concerts planned on Saturday at the Food Court tent. The Falcon guy will be walking around on Saturday – check out his birds of prey.
A couple tips – if you’ve never been, you can walk FOREVER. Sometimes kids don’t want to walk forever. Load them on our very cool People Mover to get to the start box, where you can sit on some bleachers to watch lots of action. If you’re bringing a stroller, it’d be wise to bring your jogging stroller or something with big wheels – the terrain is not super stroller-friendly. Got a small child? Carry him in a backpack!
I WANT TO BRING MY OTHER FAMILY. CAN I BRING MY DOG?
Sure! We love dogs. We actually have dog agility demos and lessons happening on Friday and Saturday – we’d LOVE for you to bring your dog in to the dog agility ring to try tunnels, A-frames, and jumps.
Yes, dogs are allowed on the bus.
NO, your dog is not allowed off leash. NO, it doesn’t matter how wonderfully well-behaved your dog is. The Dept of Natural Resources has strict leash laws on this property. If a ranger sees a loose dog, the owner will be fined.
I’VE NEVER BEEN ON CROSS COUNTRY DAY. WHERE SHOULD I GO TO SEE SOME ACTION?
The water jumps are always crowd favorites. There’s a water jump just below the Main Entrance gate (grab a course map on your way in so you can navigate) that you can easily walk to. Or, catch the People Mover, just to the right of the Main Entrance. The tractor and wagon will either drop you off partway down the course where you can check out the Sneaky Snake and the picnic table at Dove Valley Winery. Or ride it to the end, and then wander over to the bleachers by the Start box. There you will see TWO water jumps, the start and the finish, and lots of other fun jumps. This is your best viewing opportunity, for maximum jump sighting.
Visit our many food vendors selling everything from wraps to bbq to kettle corn. They are all conveniently located near the Main Entrance.
I’D LIKE A SOUVENEIR TO REMEMBER MY VISIT. WHERE DO I GO?
We’ve got just the thing! Visit our FHI merchandise area in the HUGE Country Shoppes tent, right next to the Main Entrance. You’ll find all kinds of great apparel, mugs, and hats. Also wander through the rest of the tent for great art work, sweaters, pottery, and plenty of other fun purchases.
WHERE DO I BUY TICKETS?You can buy tickets on-line or simply buy tickets at the gate. There’s no difference in price. We take credit cards, and we will have an ATM conveniently located just inside the Main Entrance in case you need some cash.
HOW DO I KNOW WHO THE RIDERS ARE?
Grab a program! THEY ARE FREE! The program has a course map and description, rider biographies, special event descriptions, and a tentative schedule of events. Programs are available at both entrance gates.
